The Department of Civil Engineering was established at Al-Balqa Applied University in 2013. The academic department offers a Bachelor degree specializing in Civil Engineering/Structure and Civil Engineering/Surveying and Geomatics.
The department also offers a Master of Science (M.Sc.) with both thesis and non-thesis alternatives in geomatics engineering. The current curriculum provides two specialized pathways within the field of civil engineering: the structural engineering track and the surveying and geomatics engineering track.
Furthermore, the department curriculum places significant emphasis on the need to remain current in the rapidly evolving field of civil engineering. The curriculum consists of a range of general and specialized courses, 280 hours of practical training in esteemed companies, and a two-term graduation project. These components are essential in efficiently equipping our graduates to enter the labour market promptly.
The department includes a total of 18 academic members who possess expertise in many fields within the realm of civil engineering. Furthermore, the department is equipped with a total of 13 laboratories, which are managed by a team consisting of nine engineers and one technician. The faculty members engage in scientific research across a range of disciplines within civil engineering, including structural engineering, transportation engineering, pavement engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, wastewater treatment engineering, construction project management and engineering, and surveying and geomatics engineering. The findings of their research were disseminated through publication in many esteemed international publications and presentations at prominent conferences.
