Course Title: Classical Arabic Literature
Credit: 3 hours
Total Hours: 180 hours
Duration: 4 classes per week, 3 hours each class
Semester: Fall/Spring/Summer/Winter
Text book : Multiple classical literary books
Location: Language Center/ Al-Balqa Applied University Or Online Prerequisites: None

Pricing
  • Online Classes: $1,000 USD per Fall/Spring/Summer/Winter sessions
  • In-Person Classes: $1,500 USD per fall or winter session
  • Additional Services: Host family accommodations available with extra charges, housing and transportation services with extra charges. All tests, including the placement test, is free.

Course Description

The Classic Arabic Literature course, developed by the Language Center at Al-Balqa University, enriches international students’ understanding of classic literary works, encompassing short stories, aphorisms, autobiographical literature, poetry, and prose.
This course provides comprehensive knowledge to help students and researchers comprehend and grasp the depth of classic Arabic literature.

Course Objectives
  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of Arabic literature.
  • Introduce and analyze various literary genres, emphasizing aesthetic and linguistic components.
  • Foster appreciation for the expressive richness of the Arabic language.
  • Familiarize students with literary techniques and new vocabulary relevant to daily communication.
  • Explore the link between historical Arabic literary heritage and contemporary creative production.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Analyze and interpret classic Arabic literary texts.
  • Identify and discuss key themes, genres, and styles in classic Arabic literature.
