Department of Autonomous Systems

Vision
Establishing a distinguished department locally and regionally by improving students’ skills in theory and practice and by empowering their knowledge. The department also aims at preparing professional graduates capable of developing artificial intelligence systems, robots and virtual reality to serve their communities.
Mission
Serving students and society by providing excellent education and learning for the department students, implementing creative research, and being able to build intelligence systems, robots and virtual reality

Intelligence Systems and Robots
The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics major combines the privileges of two unique sciences: artificial intelligence and robotics. It is one of the unique and modern disciplines that have been established in the college of Artificial Intelligence at Al-Balqa Applied University. The major aims to create a new generation of smart computing professionals and enable its graduates to keep pace with the challenges of the new information technology era in Jordan particularly and the region generally. The major also aims to enable its graduates to work within a wide range of sectors with high smart technological challenges including financial, engineering, production, manufacturing, transport and logistical services; in addition to the defence, healthcare and entertainment sectors.
Graduates majoring in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics can work in the following professions: robotics specialist, intelligent software developer, intelligent embedded systems developer, intelligent software and systems analyst, artificial intelligence sciences and robotics and their applications.
It is well-known that the sciences of artificial intelligence and robotics are the most influential in the future of technical work in the United States of America and Europe. Many companies are investing in automation and smart digital technologies, which will, undoubtedly, add many job opportunities in the global and regional market for those with expertise in smart sciences, such as graduates of intelligence and robotics. Regionally, countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are currently planning to heavily use smart systems and robots in smart and automated cars in public transport systems and automated policemen.
In Jordan, Al-Balqa Applied University is working towards the new era of information technology by establishing the college of Artificial Intelligence which awards a bachelor’s degree in the major of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics to enable the university graduates to lead smart computer technology workplaces in Jordan in particular and the region in general.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality aims to create interactive computer environments in the real world or smart simulation environments using information technology systems. This comes to keep pace with current progress in the world of smart technologies that focuses on building a virtual reality for many applications and services to make the lives of individuals and institutions much better and easier.
Therefore, the College of Artificial Intelligence had to offer an academic major to supply the local and regional technical market with trained and skilful holders of a bachelor’s degree to develop and design virtual reality programs and to serve their countries and nations.
The Virtual Reality study plan has been designed to meet the needs of the technical market to become a part of smart technologies in the era of digitization and the revolution of modern technology. Therefore, the graduate can be prepared as an expert in computer programming for virtual reality applications and augmentation and can become more experienced in designing and developing virtual reality systems and human interaction with them. Also, the study plan provides a suitable training in building applications for virtual or augmented reality, such as storyboard applications and three-dimensional smart electronic games, through a theoretical study supported by experiments and practical applications. Graduates majoring in virtual reality can work in multiple fields, such as static, motion and interactive computer graphics designer, virtual reality systems designer, smart electronic games designer, virtual or augmented reality software developer.
