Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology aims to ascertain the role of biotechnology in improving agricultural production and preserving the environment. The Department wards a bachelor’s degree in agricultural biotechnology and master’s degree in biotechnology. The study plan covers the most important research and teaching fields. The department also provides the latest devices and equipment that promote it to the global level. The department's most important laboratories are: Molecular Biological Sciences Laboratory, Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Biotechnology Laboratory, and Biological Sciences Laboratory, and there are a large number of research projects supported by international and local bodies. The department aims at preparing qualified and skillful graduates who are able to work in the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment, The Ministry of Water, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Forensic Research Laboratories, the Jordanian Customs Department, and companies from the private sector.

The Faculty’s Vision The department seeks leadership, innovation and leadership in the fields of knowledge, educational, professional and applied research in the fields of agricultural biotechnology and scientific research across the local and international arenas. Mission Preparing specialized cadres and supplying the labor market with scientifically and practically qualified cadres in the field of agricultural biotechnology and modern scientific developments capable of competition and effective contribution to meet their societies’ needs and enrich knowledge through the pursuit of excellence in education, scientific research, service of the local community and international cooperation in accordance with local quality standard.
