Department of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems

The Department of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at Amman University College for Financial and Managerial Science at Al-Balqa Applied University sought to keep pace with scientific and professional developments through the continuous development of academic curricula for the diploma, bachelor’s and postgraduate studies, taking into account the requirements of the labor market for the purpose of preparing qualified competencies to work in the field of accounting and accounting information systems. Because of its important and influential impact on the national economy, the Department of Accounting and Accounting Information Systems at Amman University College, which was established in the year 1997, aims primarily to qualify the student to obtain the best and latest findings in the science of accounting and accounting information systems, which provides the student with the best opportunities in the labor market and in graduate studies. It also aims to support scientific research by guiding students and directing them towards scientific research for permanent self-development. The department teaches the diploma program in accounting, in addition to the bachelor’s programs in accounting and accounting information systems, and the master’s program in accounting. The department teaching staff is a distinguished group of faculty members who hold high academic degrees and have specialized experience.
Professor Dr. Laith Akram Al-Qudah
Graduates of the Accounting Department work in the fields of accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and analysis and design of accounting systems in business and service establishments in the public and private sectors.
The department seeks to achieve its vision, mission, and objectives, in an atmosphere dominated by hard work in the spirit of one team, justice, and concern for the interest of the student and the public interest of the college, the university, and the country. May God grant us all success in serving this scientific edifice .

Vision
Developing the technical and professional capabilities of workers in financial and accounting departments with a focus on developing scientific research and analytical and philosophical thought in accounting matters. Also, combining between financial, administrative and applied knowledge in addition to scientific and field training used in the field of accounting.

Mission

Objectives
  • Supplying organizations and markets with qualified and specialized personnel in the field of accounting.
  • Increasing the knowledge and developing the accounting skills of those enrolled in the program by focusing on theoretical and practical philosophies in the field of accounting.
  • Supporting the research capabilities of those enrolled in the program to prepare applied research that contributes to solving accounting problems in the Jordanian society and surrounding communities.
  • Expanding in the attraction of students to continue their postgraduate studies in the Accounting Department to meet the needs of civil societies.
  • Trying to establish more cooperative relationships with similar academic institutions inside and outside the country for variation in the sources of learning.

  • Helping the student to recall the history and theories of the development of accounting thought from prevailing practical practices
  • Helping the student to be familiar with the rules and foundations of scientific research in the field of accounting.
  • Helping the student to explore the role of the accounting profession in serving other financial and managerial sciences.
  • Helping the student to realize the service role of accounting to achieve the well-being of society and realizes the importance of the financial accounting system and its role in building rational economic decisions.

Objectives
  1. Thinking Skills:

    • The student uses his knowledge to collect appropriate accounting requirements, evidence, and data to discuss existing and potential issues and problems in the field of accounting.
    • The student reviews and analyzes various accounting problems and extracts from them a set of dimensions and laws appropriate for application in the accounting profession.
    • The student evaluates and analyzes prevailing accounting practices, compares them with the theoretical dimensions of accounting, and explains his philosophical point of view therein.
    • The student makes rational and philosophical comparisons between practical and scientific solutions to some accounting problems in his environment and the surrounding environment and presents solutions to them with the aim of extracting appropriate solutions.
  2. Practical Skills:

    • The student critiques, applies and develops accounting concepts in analyzing financial operations and preparing financial statements.
    • The student analyzes and compares the principles used in preparing financial statements for different types of projects in order to evaluate their financial position.
    • The student uses available technological means to solve various accounting problems and design accounting systems.
    • The student expresses his opinion on the fairness of financial offer and disclosure, and interprets various administrative policies into appropriate financial policies.
    • The student relies on scientific research skills and harnesses them to serve the profession
  3. General Skills:

    • Training the student to analyze, offer and present accounting information in a manner that serves the administrative decision maker in his quest to make rational financial decisions.
    • Providing the student with the ability to analyze and communicate quantitative and non-quantitative information appropriate to the financial decision maker.
    • Work as a team to prepare field studies that help diagnose and predict contemporary accounting problems to avoid them and address their harms.
    • Helping the student to develop himself through studying and investigating scientific and practical developments in the field of accounting and benefiting from them in his professional life.
