Department of Basic Sciences

The Department of Basic Sciences is considered as one of the departments that formed the primer core in the journey of Amman University College, which began in 1952 and included various specializations in the humanities and social sciences. Since its establishment, the department has witnessed steady development and growth in quantity and quality until it became one of the most prominent departments in the college in all aspects such as plurality and diversity of teaching staff in different specializations. In response to the visions and policies of the state and the university regarding developing education and improving its quality, the department is keen to provide qualified and specialized cadres and develop in horizontal and vertical in order to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities that support the various specializations in the college by providing compulsory and elective courses in the prescribed study plans.

The department is concerned to pioneer and excellence in the fields of education and scientific research, which contributes to community service, to become an educational department at the forefront of departments at Amman University College and to occupy a prominent position. It also contributes to preparing scientific competencies in various fields of science by providing distinguished education and producing creative scientific research that serves society and contributes in building the economy knowledge by creating a university environment that stimulates creativity, freedom of thought and expression, and responding to the requirements of society and scientific development.

• Promoting scientific research in the Basic Sciences Department towards international standards by providing its substantial and technical requirements, and linking its outcomes to national development needs, with a focus on the needs of the local community.
• Preparing a high-quality college graduate, scientifically and practically qualified, who possesses the characteristics that enable him/her to produce knowledge, compete in the labor market, and contribute effectively to the development of society.
• Preparing a university student who has a sense of patriotism and loyalty to be an active and productive member of society, and who possesses applied skills, cognitive sciences, communication skills, and written and oral skills, to ensure his readiness for the labor market.
• Achieving excellence in the Basic Sciences Department in the educational process and raising the level of its outcomes to support other departments to achieve the needs of the local community.
• Focusing on the quality of scientific research in the Department of Basic Sciences and then in the college, which is reflected in the university.
• Excellence in the level of accuracy and transparency in administrative work.
