Accounting is a specialized scientific field that aims to provide students with applied knowledge and skills that qualify them for positive engagement with the modern business environment by linking theoretical concepts in accounting and its practical applications in various types of institutions. The accounting department offers two areas of accounting: Accounting and Accounting Information Systems.
The Department of Accounting offers an integrated study plan of (132) credit hours that includes courses in various fields at the university, faculty and department levels. The plan aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and experiences necessary to enable them to enter the labor market in various administrative positions in various public and private sector institutions and in the fields of Training, consulting, auditing, and successfully completing their academic and professional studies.
The new plan adopted by the department since 2011 focuses on raising the student’s skills in the fields of accounting using computers, English language and scientific research. Many of the department’s subjects are taught in English and in computer laboratories and using specialized accounting programs.
The department has a strategic plan to open a master's degree in accounting, as a special committee was established to study this strategy. Registration is expected to start in the academic year 2013/2014.
