Arabic Language and Literature - Department

The Department of Applied Arabic Language was established in 2011. There are is three subspecialties in the department: Literature and Criticism, Rhetoric and Syntax, and Applied Arabic Linguistics. The faculty members hold various academic ranks and specialized in different areas in the field. The department awards a bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature.

Vision
The department awards a bachelor’s degree in the field of applied Arabic language that emphasizes application and practice, unlike the major in Arabic language and literature that is more theoretical.

Mission
The department underpins important core principles, including preserving the Arabic language as an official language in the Jordanian state, protecting it from extinction and challenges, and promoting the Arabic language in all aspects of life through its proper use by faculty members.

Objectives
The department aims to achieve the following objectives:
  • Hold cultural, literary, critical and linguistic activities to refine the character of its students.
  • Build bridges of cooperation and communication with the local, civil, and official community organizations through participating in the official and national celebrations, holding lectures and seminars and providing cooperation in various fields.
  • Provide various government ministries and the professional paper and electronic media with our multiple Arabic language skills to facilitate their work, activities and events.
