Maan College, established in 1989 as Maan Community College, is strategically located 7 kilometers from Maan city center and within the route to Petra—one of the worlds seven archaeological wonders. The college enjoys a prime location adjacent to the permanent site of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.The college is part of an ambitious permanent project designed to meet Al-Balqa Applied University’s growing needs and future expansion plans. The college includes various student facilities like student dorms, a modern library, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a mosque, and other essential amenities. This infrastructure does not only serve the immediate educational requirements but also position Ma’an College as a significant educational landmark, with the potential to evolve into a university college offering Bachelor’s degrees in various technical disciplines.

Establishmen Ma’an College initially offered programs in humanities, education, and economics, catering to the urgent need for teachers with associate diplomas in financial fields to work in the banking sector and government services. Development In 1997, the college came under the umbrella of Al-Balqa Applied University, which was established by Royal Decree to focus on applied and technical education in Jordan. This integration marked a significant transformation, as Ma’an College began phasing out certain programs in response to market demands. New, more relevant programs were introduced to prepare qualified graduates in applied fields that were in high demand.Shift Towards Technical EducationIn alignment with the Royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the National Strategy for Human Resource Development, Ma’an College has embraced a comprehensive development plan focused on advancing vocational and applied education. This shift is crucial for addressing challenges such as poverty and unemployment, while also ensuring that the college’s graduates are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of the labor market and contribute to the national development goals.
