Department of Basic Medical Sciences


The Department of Basic Medical Sciences was established in 2017 and currently includes the following disciplines: Anatomy and Histology, Physiology, Biochemistry and Genetics, Microbiology, and Pharmacology.
The Department of Basic Medical Sciences provides the students in the first three years with the basic knowledge and skills needed for the clinical phase.
The courses of the department are divided into introductory courses for basic medical sciences that are given during the first year and the first semester of the second year, and body system courses that are given during the second semester of the second year and the third year, which include: Cardiovascular System, Blood and Lymphatic System, Digestive System, Musculoskeletal System and Skin, Respiratory System, Endocrine System, Nervous System and Special Senses, and Genitourinary System.
The department delivers its courses, which comprise theoretical lectures, practical laboratories, and discussion sessions, using various teaching techniques and educational means within equipped classrooms and laboratories.
The Department of Basic Medical Sciences includes distinguished faculty members in various disciplines, where the department always recruits first-class faculty members and grants scholars to obtain a doctorate degree from the best international universities.
The department prioritizes scientific research, building on a long tradition of faculty publications in highly-ranked scientific journals. We actively contribute to advancing scholarship by encouraging faculty to apply for major research projects and by providing state-of-the-art research laboratories.
The department is deeply committed to serving the local community through the active participation of faculty and students. This service includes educational outreach (delivering public lectures, courses, and workshops), healthcare volunteerism (conducting free medical days), and clinical support (extending expertise to local hospitals and medical centers).
