Computer Science Department

Welcome to the Computer Science Department at Al-Balqa Applied University. The Department of Computer Science (CS) was established in 2003 under the faculty of Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi of science and information technology. In 2011, the CS department became under the faculty of Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi of information technology. The Department of Computer Science offers the Bachelor degree in Computer Science, and a Master’s program in Computer Science that was established in 2004 The Department of Computer Science is continuously trying to update and introduce computer science courses in order to be able to meet international standards. For this reason, in 2011/2012, the curriculum has been modified for the Bachelor and the Master's degrees, in 2015/2016 the curriculum has also been modified for the Bachelor degree in order to meet the developments in the field. The Department of Computer Science has a large number of novel computing laboratories. These laboratories are equipped with more than 150 machines that are used to teach the practical courses, serves graduate students, and research. Our mission in the Department of Computer Science is to provide a high quality graduates and to provide them with the necessary skills and techniques that qualify them to be competitive in the market.
Vision

The Department of Computer Science derives its vision from Prince Abdullah bin Ghazi faculty of information technology, in the provision of high-level of academic program in order to achieve public standards, and prepare graduates to be able to develop, analyze and apply the use of modern software and tools in order to serve and contribute to build the future of the country.
Mission

Program Educational Objectives
The program PEO's are as follows:
By 3-5 years after graduation, most graduates of the program will:
  1. Be employed in a computing-related field or be pursuing graduate studies;
  2. Have advanced their skills and knowledge since completing the program.
  3. Work effectively in the chosen field to make a positive contribution to society.

Student Outcomes
The Student Outcomes for the program are drawn from ABET criteria and are listed below:
  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
