Welcome to the Computer Science Department at Al-Balqa Applied University. The Department of Computer Science (CS) was established in 2003 under the faculty of Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi of science and information technology. In 2011, the CS department became under the faculty of Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi of information technology. The Department of Computer Science offers the Bachelor degree in Computer Science, and a Master’s program in Computer Science that was established in 2004
The Department of Computer Science is continuously trying to update and introduce computer science courses in order to be able to meet international standards. For this reason, in 2011/2012, the curriculum has been modified for the Bachelor and the Master's degrees, in 2015/2016 the curriculum has also been modified for the Bachelor degree in order to meet the developments in the field.
The Department of Computer Science has a large number of novel computing laboratories. These laboratories are equipped with more than 150 machines that are used to teach the practical courses, serves graduate students, and research. Our mission in the Department of Computer Science is to provide a high quality graduates and to provide them with the necessary skills and techniques that qualify them to be competitive in the market.

The Department of Computer Science derives its vision from Prince Abdullah bin Ghazi faculty of information technology, in the provision of high-level of academic program in order to achieve public standards, and prepare graduates to be able to develop, analyze and apply the use of modern software and tools in order to serve and contribute to build the future of the country.
The computer science department objectives are as follows:
- Prepare qualified graduates equipped with necessary scientific knowledge in the field of computer science.
- Support the labor market needs with qualified and capable graduates.
- Directing students towards creativity and innovation.
- Prepare students to use their knowledge to provide effective solutions to various problems in the field
- Prepare students for the challenges in their future career
- Developing diverse programs of study that combines computer science with various fields of specialization.
- To enable students to demonstrate proficiency in problem-solving techniques, analysis of complex problems
- To enable students to demonstrate proficiency in many high-level programming languages and operating systems
- To enable students to demonstrate a depth knowledge in the discipline of computer science
- To enable students to understand a professional code of ethics in computing
- To enable students to demonstrate their abilities to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practices
- To enable students to be highly qualified employees in industry, government, by demonstrating their abilities through significant technical achievements and expanded leadership responsibility
- Cooperate with governmental and private institutions to update the study plan to keep pace with the labor market requirements
- Foster positive relationships and partnerships with government institutions and various business sectors by providing consultations and initiating practical research that will benefit the society
