The Software Engineering Department is one of the academic departments within the Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at Al-Balqa Applied University. The department offers a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering. It was established in 2002 as part of the university’s pioneering efforts in the field of Information Technology, which began with the establishment of the Information Technology Department in 1998.
The department aims to prepare highly qualified graduates equipped with strong theoretical knowledge and advanced practical skills in software development, software engineering, and software project management, to meet the demands of local, regional, and international job markets. The program focuses on developing students’ analytical and practical competencies and enabling them to design and develop integrated software systems in accordance with the latest standards and technologies.
The department is committed to providing a high-quality educational environment through modern laboratories, an updated curriculum that keeps pace with rapid developments in software engineering, and a distinguished academic staff with strong teaching and research expertise. This supports the quality of education and enhances learning outcomes.

The Software Engineering Department strives to be a leading and distinguished department both locally and internationally by attracting outstanding academic talents and preparing graduates with high scientific and professional excellence. The department is committed to equipping students with the latest knowledge and advanced skills, enabling them to develop and implement effective software solutions through quality education, scientific research, and continuous development
