Software Engineering Department

In 1998, Al-Balqa Applied University became the first university in Jordan to offer the bachelor's degree in Information Technology. The Department of Software Engineering was established in 2002 as one of Prince Abdullah Bin Ghazi faculty of Information Technology departments. The main aim of the Software Engineering Department is to give students the necessary basic knowledge of software engineering expected nowadays at the international level which leads to graduate highly qualified students equipped with IT. The software engineer aims to ensure that the construction and the development of the software system are based on standard methodologies in order to achieve good performance. The staff at the department are excellent qualified and have an excellent experience as well.

Vision

Software engineering is an established discipline based on requirement analysis, design, construction, testing, maintenance, economics, and management issues of software engineering. Software engineers are in demand in every segment of society affected by computing technology. Potential employers include all software vendors and Internet-based companies, electronic business organizations, businesses that build and sell computers, research and development laboratories, aerospace companies, government contractors, banks, insurance companies, and manufacturing organizations. Software engineers are concerned with the theoretical and practical aspects of technology, cost, and social impact of software systems that are both effective and efficient. The Software Engineering department is by all means a substantial leap towards promoting and supporting the development of the software industry. The Software Engineering department is committed to exerting every possible effort towards raising the standards of the software industry in a way that allows the local industry to become highly competitive worldwide. The Software Engineering long-term objective is to allow the industry to become a key player in promoting widespread software engineering & information technology in society.

Our mission is to educate students and provide them with the necessary and up-to-date knowledge to become capable of developing and using effective solutions in the field of Software Engineering through persistent research and development.
