The College was established in 1965 by joint efforts between the Ministry of Social Development and the United Nations Organization and named the Jordanian Institute of Social Service. At that time, aimed to offer the Associate Diploma in Social Service program. In 1980, the Institute of Social Service launched the Associate Diploma program in Special Education in order to serve people with special needs and to meet the demands of the local community for specialized people in the field of Special Education.
In 1997, the Jordanian Institute of Social Service was integrated into Al-Balqa Applied University and named Princess Rahma University College. The college offered BA academic programs of Social Service in 1999/2000, BA program of Special Education in 2001 /2002 and BA program of Crime and Delinquency in 2009/2010.
In 2012/2013, the Department of Crime and Delinquency was established to offer a bachelor degree in Crime and Delinquency that was accredited by the Higher Education Institutions Authority. In 2014/2015, the Department of Crime and Delinquency offered Associate Diploma degree in Reform and Rehabilitation program. In 2016/2017, BA program in Applied Psychology was added. Moreover, Higher Diploma of Learning Difficulties and Higher Diploma of Autism programs were added in 2017/2018. In 2018/2019, an Associate Diploma program of Measurement and Diagnosis was added for students with autism spectrum disorder. The college academic staff is 50 and the total number of the students is (1821) in the academic year 2022/2023.
Dean’s Message
Welcome to Princess Rahma University College where we place our students at the heart of everything. Students will receive an outstanding learning and teaching experience with a distinct emphasis on employability. We prepare our graduates to be professionals and well equipped with the necessary skills in the field of social and educational sciences.
Princess Rahma University College is located in the village of Allan, north of Al-Salt city, 9km away in Balqa Governorate, 35 km west of Amman. The College is surrounded by a number of forests and fruit trees such as the oak and cypress trees. The region is also famous in olive and grape trees, which give the area an aesthetic view.
The College was established in 1965 by the Ministry of Social Affairs, it was found to serve the local community and award diploma degree in Social Services field. In 1980, the College started to award another diploma in Special Education major. In 1997, the College was attached to the Al-Balqa Applied University and started to be known as “Princess Rahma University College”. A number of specializations bachelor degrees were lunched such as Social work, Special Education, and Applied Psychology in addition to higher applied diploma in two majors Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Learning Difficulties. Further, in 2018 the College started to offer new intermediate diploma in measurement and diagnosis ASD.
However, rooted from the College’s policies of serving local and Arab communities, and from the necessity of approved centres and its concern about the diagnosis and assessment of children with disabilities, a Comprehensive Centre for Assessment and Diagnosis (CCAD) is being established inside the college campus. The Establishment of CCAD will contribute to fulfill our university's message and vision of delivering high quality services to the local communities, and equipping specialists worldwide. The CCAD seeks to accurately identify children with disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Difficulties, Intellectual Disabilities, Hearing Impairment, and Vision Impairment.

Having a specialized college capable of preparing specialists, professionals and practitioners in all fields of Social Work, Special Education, Crime and Delinquency.
Mission
Preparing qualified academic and professionals experienced in the fields of Social and Educational work who can compete in the local, regional, and international markets. The college aims at upgrading its programs to establish a learning community based on a high level of professional scientific competence to respond to the society needs and the challenges of comprehensive development.

Preserving sublime values that are consistent with the ethics of social and academic work as well as active learning through field training and complementarity between various disciplines as well as enhancing human and financial capabilities and achieving comprehensive quality and community partnership.
Local and International Agreements
An agreement with the European Union regarding freedom-depriving penalties and replacing them with alternative penalties for community service and training the college members and students on anger control skills
The Social Service Department is a member of the Association of Colleges, Institutes and Departments of Social Work in Arab Universities Union
An agreement with the Business Development Center (SANAD)
On behalf of Al-Balqa Applied University an agreement signed with the Public Security Directorate / Reform and Rehabilitation Centers to teach the program
of Reform and Rehabilitation / Associate Diploma Degree
A Conference was organized on “Social Service and Work with Refugees: Opportunities and Challenges” the experiences of Jordan, Palestine, and Germany.
Participating in the Women Public Policies Maker Project in cooperation with the catalysts company FRIEDRICHEBERTSTIFTUNG
College Admission Principles
Students who are admitted at BA programs in the college should have the Tawjihi or an equivalent certificate and their names are listed and announced in the lists issued by the Unified Admission and Coordination Committee of Jordanian Universities. Associate Diploma applications are received directly in the college and students are processed according to Al Balqa Applied University admission requirements; Students of the Scientific, Information Management, Literary, Shariah and Nursing streams are accepted in the programs the college offers. Students of the Home Economy stream are accepted in Special Education programs, and students of the Commercial and Agricultural streams are allowed to study Social Service after passing the additional courses.
