The Department of Applied Biological Sciences was newly established in 2024 within the Faculty of Science, making it the only department in Jordan offering a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Biological Sciences. The department provides specialized courses in various fields of biological sciences in addition to core courses that serve students from other faculties of the university, such as medicine, medical labratories, nursing, and agriculture. The department is aimed to provide students with skills in several modern and applied fields, including bioinformatics, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, medical microbiology, biotechnology, and animal and plant sciences.
Vision
The Department of Applied Biological Sciences strives to be a leader locally and regionally in teaching Applied Biological Sciences, while preparing highly qualified graduates capable of contributing to the development of the healthcare, environmental, and educational sectors.
Mission
The department aims to prepare graduates with broad knowledge and high competencies, capable of applying integrated scientific methodologies that combine theoretical and experimental aspects, ensuring excellence in applied life sciences and their professional performance.

The department aims to provide Jordan particularly, and the region, in general, with qualified graduates to participate in improving the health services with a special focus on the medical laboratory examinations. This purpose would be achieved by the following:
Enable students to acquire and apply theoretical and practical knowledge in all fields of applied life sciences.
Supply the local market with graduates whose skills align with market needs.
Develop the scientific competencies and performance of faculty members and researchers, empowering them to utilize information and communication technology in the educational process.
Strengthen knowledge, cultural, and scientific exchange with national and international departments, faculties, and universities.
Support student, cultural, social, and artistic activities.
