About the Unit

During session No. 11/2010/2011 M held by the board of trustees on 14/7/2011, the unit was established in accordance with decision No. 62-2010/2011 M

Vision

Developmental unit that crystallizes BAU's role in community development and service as one of the priorities, realizing its goals to upgrade productive efficiency, enhance the university relationship with the local community, and keep pace with recent developments of the era to face challenges.

Mission

Enhancing BAU's interaction with the local community, its sectors, and categories, taking into account spatial distance in persistent efforts toward modernism and development to keep track of fast-changing developments in various fields, and providing different skills and expertise to form an effective interactive tool in the local community development.

Aims

1. Sponsoring society-related research and encouraging participation of the local community in local development.
2. Taking part in sponsoring symposiums and lectures, raising awareness, and issuing brochures on local development.
3. Cooperation with local and Arab bodies, and international organizations on local community development and service.
4. Contribution in development as a qualitative addition to facilities and services provided by the university.
5. Establishing a strong bond with the society through contacting all institutions and sectors to effectively participate in national development.
6. Utilizing university informative, human, and financial capacities in community service, and finding substantive solutions for problems facing it.
7. Supporting training and qualification programs to help participants acquire knowledge and skills that they can invest in developing institutions, society, and individuals.
8. Developing life-long learning programs, linking university knowledge and experience with the reality, and helping individuals to invest their knowledge and experience in augmenting productivity.
9. Orienting postgraduate students and practicum toward addressing problems on local community development.

Duties

1. Providing logistic support for university faculties and colleges to carry out proposed projects, events, and activities that may help develop the society, cope with contemporary developments, and face challenges, through utilizing the university capacities and staff knowledge and experience.
2. Supervising and arranging research and theoretical and field studies to utilize results in developing productive and service institutions.
3. Coordination with Research Deanship, concerned faculties and colleges, and university units to carry out the unit's duties.

Unit Council

Responsibilities

1. Adoption of the action plan of the unit
2. Deliberating and upgrading proposals and recommendations of the unit's duties and taking necessary action.
3. Deliberating over the unit's annual report or any report presented by the director and taking necessary measures.
4. Forming sub-committees to carry out specific duties based on the director's directions.
5. Any other duties presented by the director.

Director

Overseeing the unit's business, implemented programs, creating suitable atmosphere for carrying out duties, and submitting relevant recommendations to the university president and the unit's council.
