Teaching and Training Mobility

Academic mobility is essential for strengthening BAU’s international competitiveness, fostering new networks across Higher Education institutions and facilitating knowledge transfer. Academic mobility is key to raising awareness of cultural diversity in encouraging innovation and international collaboration among academic staff from different disciplines, backgrounds and research interests and in contributing to the development of a knowledge-based society.
Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) welcomes teaching personnel from partner Higher Education Institutions as part of the Erasmus+ Program and others. Interested teaching staff should contact their home institution's foreign office and/or Erasmus office to see whether an Erasmus Bilateral Agreement for teaching activity is in existence with BAU. Please note that the funding offered to assist with travel and lodging expenses is fully administered by your home university. CIRU is also happy to respond to any inquires and is open to new collaborations. A list of BAU IIA agreements can also be found here (link). For your application to be processed, please follow these instructions:
  1. Send an email to your international office with your academic details, a brief CV highlighting your area of expertise and how the exchange will benefit both universities, and a draft of your teaching plan.
  2. The Erasmus Mobility Unit will transmit your request to the appropriate Department.
  3. If your proposal fits with the department's work and academic schedules, the department will contact you directly to finalize your visit.
During their stay at BAU, both academic and staff visitors participating in the Erasmus+ program are required to be covered by an insurance policy that includes Third-Party Liability Insurance and Accident coverage while performing duties related to the activities to be carried out abroad.
BAU seeks submissions for departmental staff training sessions. It is at the discretion of the relevant Department to admit a visitor for staff training. The hosting Department is responsible for organizing a program based on the visitor's interests, and a significant amount of work is required to design the program and host the visit. In order to apply for an Erasmus staff training at BAU, you must:
  1. Check with your home Institution about the availability of an active Erasmus Bilateral Agreement for staff training mobility with BAU.
  2. E-mail your request and a draft training proposal to your international office;
  3. Wait for a reply from the interested Department.

Important Clarifications:

  • BAU does not offer language support, although advise on courses to take.
  • BAU does not offer any support for visa applications, although it would be beneficial to visit the official website of Visit Jordan: The Official Tourism Website
  • Participants have to buy insurance when they book their flights.
  • The recommended language level is subjected to an agreement and requirements between the sending institution and the hosting institution per case.
