About the Department:


The Department of Arabic Language and Literature began as the Applied Arabic Language program in the second semester of the 2002/2003 academic year and was then affiliated with the Department of Basic Sciences.
. In the 2016/2017 academic year, the Department was established as an independent department and is now one of the leading academic departments at Princess Alia University College. The Department works to advance the teaching of Arabic within today's knowledge society, to meet the needs of the local and Arab labor markets, and to respond to the growing international interest in learning Arabic and in teaching its linguistic sciences and literature at universities and institutes abroad.

The Arabic Language Department aims to advance Arabic language and literature and to serve Arabic and related fields by drawing on our authentic heritage, engaging constructively with other world cultures and their literatures, and upholding Arab-Islamic values and principles.

Message

To provide distinguished language education for students, enabling them to successfully compete in the local and Arab markets, pursue their postgraduate studies, and provide a suitable and stimulating environment for scientific research and leadership in the field of Arabic language and literature.

Objectives


  • Equip students with the necessary linguistic skills in phonetics, morphology, grammar, and semantics to develop their ability to apply the rules and characteristics of the Arabic language in writing and speaking.
  • To provide students with sufficient knowledge about ancient Arabic literature across its successive historical periods.
  • Introduce students to the achievements of modern Arabic literature and enable them to analyze literary texts according to modern critical approaches.• Develop students’ skills in Arabic rhetoric and enhance their appreciation of the miraculous eloquence found in the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Prophetic Hadith.
  • Enhance students’ ability to conduct scientific research in the field of language and literature and benefit from linguistic and literary sources available in print or online.
  • Foster creative talents in the fields of thought, culture, and literature.
  • Developing other students to be able to build bridges of communication between the linguistic and literary heritage on the one hand, and linguistic and literary studies in contemporary thought on the other.
