About the Department

Since its establishment, the department of Social and Applied Sciences has sought, in line with the College’s vision, to offer diverse academic programs designed to prepare academically and professionally qualified graduates for the labor market.

Vision

To achieve excellence through creativity and innovation in preparing students academically and professionally in applied social and vocational disciplines, to meet the labor market needs.


Mission

To prepare graduates specialized in Home Economics, Fashion Design, Social Work, and Physical and Health Education, qualified in both knowledge and practice in line with twenty-first century skills and the knowledge economy, so as to meet the requirements of the labor market.

Objectives


  • To develop professional capabilities and skills in a manner that contributes to strengthening and empowering the role of women in society.
  • To prepare qualified personnel, trained both academically and professionally in line with the requirements of the local and regional labor market.
  • To raise awareness of entrepreneurship and the ability to harness the knowledge economy and small-scale productive enterprises in a way that achieves sustainable development.
  • To contribute to meeting the needs of the local community and serving it across the various fields of Home Economics and Social Work.
  • To enrich the labor market with trained competencies capable of conducting scientific research, strategic planning, and development.
  • To prepare Jordanian women to think critically and creatively, thereby equipping them to address and resolve problems across a range of professional and occupational domains.
  • To align the College's training programs with the needs of the Jordanian national economy, and to contribute to developing and improving the national income.
  • To open new channels of cooperation in vocational education and training, in line with the needs of the labor market and the requirements of the twenty-first century, and to reinforce sound social conduct among the Department's female students.
