Social Sciences - Department

The department of Social and Applied Sciences was established in line with Princess Alia University College objectives that it seeks to realize since its inception. It includes (295) students enrolled at B.A level, (49) students at Diploma level, and (31) members of the teaching staff

Vision

The department seeks to be part of a distinguished educational research institution through providing applied-based specializations (Home Economics, and Social Service). The programs help qualify a generation of distinguished female students able to be self-taught, scientifically and practically qualified to compete in the labor market, and carry out applied research that may effectively realize the plan for a sustainable economic vocational development. This shall not be absent from activating positive interaction between the college and community in a collaborative and wholly dedicated environment. All these elements function within a behavioral framework based on principles of transparency, integrity, equality, and commitment to distinguished performance and continual development.


Mission

Provision of well-informed, adept, and vocationally experienced students within their specializations to cater to the needs of educational institutions and micro enterprises in accordance with these bodies requirements and international standards, fully aware of social, environmental, and vocational ethics problems. A source of developing and disseminating social knowledge, providing consultation, training, and social service to the country's community and institutions.

Aims


  • Providing students with a high level training to be a qualified workforce in the service and production sectors locally and regionally.
  • Contributing to the service of the society and developing the environment in the fields of home economics and social service.
  • Enriching the labor market with trained qualifications that are able to technically develop and expand it.
  • Introducing new horizons for female labor market to meet their families needs in various fields in the society.
  • Preparing the Jordanian woman to assume her responsibilities ( a wife and a mother ) as a family resources manager.
  • Providing human resources that are capable of creating technological, service, and production focal points and running them effectively and skillfully.
  • Linking the college's training programs to the national economy needs, which consequently helps developing the national income
  • Forging new channels for joint venture in education and vocational training
