Department of Basic Sciences

The Department of Basic Sciences was established in the College of Science at the beginning of the academic year 2017/2018.
The department follows the accreditation standards and instructions for Basic Scientific to teach courses for scientific faculties at the university. The department has a mission, objectives and learning outcomes that correspond to those of the College of Science. The department’s council consists of a department chair and an academic staff, and it meets frequently.
The department teaches chemistry, physics and their labs, mathematics, statistics for freshman students in scientific colleges to make those students able to acquire basic skills to continue their higher education.

Vision

The vision of the department corresponds with that of the College of Science. It look forward to being a pioneer in the basic sciences and their applications to contribute to build a homogenous society of knowledge as well as preparing a highly-qualified human staff that is able to perform duties efficiently to cover the needs of the labor market in different field related to it.

Mission

The department is committed to offer the scientific content that fulfills the basic needs of the students in their first stage of study at the university and to provide them with knowledge requirements and needed training that make them qualified to start in their studying their majors efficiently and successfully.

Objectives

Establish a common scientific base of a high level for students within all courses that the department offers
Improve the basic skills of students and foster their self-confidence in a way that enables them to continue their studies in related fields
Hone good scientific thinking for students
Found positive approaches towards basic sciences
