The Language Center at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAULC) is dedicated to providing exceptional language education tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. We offer a variety of programs and courses to address the needs of non-native Arabic speakers, including but not limited to: Modern Standard Arabic: Ideal for those seeking a solid foundation in formal Arabic. Levantine Colloquial Arabic: Focuses on the dialect spoken in the Levant region (Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and parts of Iraq, Egypt, and the Gulf countries), perfect for effective everyday communication. Arabic for Diplomats: Specialized courses designed to equip diplomats and international relations professionals with essential language skills for their roles. Arabic for Specific Purposes: Custom courses for professionals to master Arabic in fields such as business, healthcare, law, gender studies, and humanitarian work. To accommodate our global student base, we offer remote classes via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet, ensuring flexible and accessible learning opportunities regardless of location. We offer a diverse range of courses designed to meet various academic and professional interests. These include specialized subjects such as Social Work, Postcolonial Studies, and Refugee Studies, all conducted in Arabic. In addition, we provide comprehensive Arabic language courses at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, catering to learners at every stage of their language journey.

Students enrolled in a university or college who wish to receive academic credit at their home institution must successfully complete the final exams for all Arabic courses taken at the Language Center of Al-Balqa Applied University. To facilitate the credit transfer process, students are advised to consult with their academic advisor or professor at their home institution in advance. The professor must endorse the student’s intent to transfer credits. Students have the flexibility to choose their grading option, either through a traditional letter grade scale (A, B, C, D, F) or a Pass/Fail evaluation. For students seeking university credit, a detailed summary of the course work and individual performance will be provided. Additionally, we are happy to support the approval process by supplying your home institution with comprehensive course materials, including syllabi, course descriptions, and schedules. Once enrolled, we will maintain communication with your university, offering attendance records, grade reports, and progress updates as needed. Upon successful completion of your courses, an official transcript will be issued.

Certification

We offer two types of certificates: Certificate of Attendance: This is awarded to students who consistently attend their classes, regardless of whether they complete the final exams. Certificate of Course Completion: This certificate is awarded to students who pass the final exams for all or selected Arabic courses. To receive this certificate, students must sit for and pass the exams, after which an official transcript is provided. This certificate can be issued for either all courses taken or for individual courses, depending on the student’s preference and exam performance.
