Postcolonial Literature in the Middle East

Course Title: Postcolonial Literature in the Middle East
Credit: 3 hours
Total Hours: 180 hours
Schedule: 4 classes per week, 3 hours per class
Semester: Fall/Spring/Summer/Winter

Location: Language Center/ Al-Balqa Applied University Or Online Prerequisites: Intermediate Level

Fees:
  • Online Classes: $1,000 USD per Fall/Spring/Summer/Winter sessions
  • In-Person Classes: $1,500 USD per fall or winter session
  • Additional Services: Transportation and housing (single, group, or host family) are available for an additional fee. All exams, including the placement test, are free of charge.

Description:

This program is designed to explore postcolonial literature in the Middle East, focusing on the influence of colonialism on literature and culture in the region. Through this program, students will study and analyze a wide range of literary texts where the impact of colonialism is evident in the works of writers, thinkers, and intellectuals.

Objectives :

  1. Understand the impact of colonialism on literature and culture in the Middle East.
  2. Develop students' literary criticism skills.
  3. Analyze literary texts from the postcolonial period.

Content:
  • Introduction to Social Work.
  • Designing and Implementing Local Community Development Programs.
  • Contemporary Issues in Social Work.

Weekly Schedule:

Week 1-2: The concept, history, significance, and key issues of social work.
Week 3-4: Planning for social projects.
Week 5-6: Effective implementation strategies and handling challenges during execution.
Week 7-8: Human rights in the Arab world, violations in some countries, and the role of organizations in defending them.
Week 9 Poverty, unemployment, and the effectiveness of social support programs.
Week 10 Youth issues and the psychological and social challenges they face. Week 11 Women and gender equality. Week 12 Final projects, comprehensive review, and presentations.

Assessment Methods:

  1. Participation and attendance: 10%
  2. Written assignments: 30%
