The 2nd International Business School Conference - The Future of Sustainability in Business Environments: Tourism Development, Innovation, and Resilience

The Business School at Al-Balqa Applied University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Jordan University of Science and Technology, is pleased to announce the 2025 Annual Conference under the theme: “The Future of Sustainability in Business Environments: Tourism Development, Innovation, and Resilience.”

This year, the conference focuses on the pivotal role of the tourism sector in addressing global challenges and seizing available opportunities to build a sustainable future for the business environment.

Hosted on November 11, 2025, at Al-Balqa Applied University and Jordan University of Science and Technology, this international conference will explore the major global shifts across economic, social, and environmental dimensions—especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia–Ukraine war, and the Gaza conflict. These developments highlight the urgent need for deeper integration between urban planning and the tourism sector as essential pillars in shaping inclusive and sustainable urban futures.

Tourism is not only a key economic driver but also a powerful force in shaping urban environments and guiding growth patterns that contribute to sustainable business ecosystems. The importance of this conference lies in exploring the interlinkages between tourism and urban planning and fostering collaboration between professionals and decision-makers in both sectors.

In light of ongoing transformations, the digital revolution continues to reshape tourism operations, requiring organizations to continually adapt to rapid changes to maintain competitiveness and market distinction.

Tourism encompasses more than attracting visitors from around the world; it also involves empowering local communities through job creation, income generation, and support for social initiatives. Through sustainable tourism, cultural heritage can be preserved and enhanced, while delivering economic benefits to local communities.

Moreover, tourism plays a vital role in promoting global peace by fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among diverse peoples and cultures, serving as a patform for dialogue and enhancing peaceful coexistence between nations.

Urban planning is a key tool in creating successful and sustainable tourist experiences by developing integrated infrastructure, improving access to tourist destinations, and preserving both the built environment and culturalheage. Urban planning also organizes land use and service distribution in ways that enhance the appeal of cities and tourist destinations while ensuring tourism’s alignment with sustainable urban development goals.

It is crucial for the tourism sector to adopt genuine sustainability practices that ensure environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources, in addition to promoting green tourism. Strengthening the resilience of the sector contributes directly to its recovery from global crises, making it more adaptable to change and capable of safeguarding its long-term sustainability.

This conference aims to explore ways to strengthen such practices through knowledge and experience exchange among participants. Driven by a shared vision, both universities have collaborated to organize the conference by combining their expertise and specialties to achieve impactful results.
