The Golden Rock of Jordan

Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), with the support of industrial sector including oil shale companies operating in Jordan and abroad will organize the 4th BAU international oil shale conference (BAU-OSC-4) in Amman and Dead Sea during the period of 27 - 29 October 2026.
The conference will provide a platform to review oil shale technologies and beneficiation of ash produced as a side product to combustion technology.
The conference will review developments and updates in oil shale technologies including combustion, retorting and ash utilization and beneficiations. The 4th conference is a platform for the advancement and progress achieved since the last conference was held. International participants will have a closer look on oil shale ongoing projects in Jordan through field visit.
The conference will consist of a broad overview through plenary lectures given by experts in the fields. The conference provides a platform for researchers, industrialists, decision-makers and businesses to interact during the three days of activities. The conference organizer?s partner, MEMR, will provide panel discussion sessions on investment opportunities.
In the third day of the conference, willing participants (optional) will visit to the ongoing Attarat Power Company in Attarat Um-Ghudran, the first Jordanian power plant operating on oil shale combustion.
