Advanced Biochemistry Course for MSc. Students
Instructor: Professor Dr. Abdul-Wahab R. Hamad,
Biochemistry is the chemistry of biology, it is called physiological chemistry. It is a program that focuses on the scientific studies of the chemistry of living systems, their fundamental chemical substances and reactions, and their chemical pathways and information transfer systems, with particular reference to carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, water, vitamins, nucleic acids and their metabolism. Includes instruction in bio-organic chemistry, protein chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, bioseparations, regulatory biochemistry, enzymology and research methods and equipment operation.
Advanced Biochemistry studies have considerably improved understanding of how cell membrane macromolecules cooperate to achieve optimal function. Enzymes, lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vatimins are deal within most major textbooks of biochemistry and give a good basis for further studies.
The lectures, seminars and lab course also deal with the analysis of components and biochemistry methods in general will give MSc. Students:
· deeper knowledge of their constituents and metabolism,
· gain experience and skills in the preparation and presentation of a scientific seminars, discussion of their contents and interpretative skills through undertaking a comprehensive research project.
· after the lab course, the students have gained skills for the study of selected problems and techniques related to the topics of the course
