I am Dr. Hiba M. Kharabsheh, an Assistant Professor at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan, specializing in water resources and environmental sciences with a focus on climate change. I hold a bachelor?s degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences (2001), a master?s degree in environmental sciences and management (2007), and a Ph.D. in Land, Water, and Environment (2017). My doctoral research focused on simulating and developing adaptation measures for the impact of climate change on barley productivity in Jordan. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in climate change adaptation, crop productivity modeling, remote sensing, GIS applications, and sustainable water management. Currently, I serve as the Director of the International Center for Research on Water and Energy (IRCWEE), leading multidisciplinary projects addressing pressing environmental challenges.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to and managed several high-impact projects, including USAID-funded initiatives, capacity-building programs, and regional collaborations with the International Atomic Energy Agency. My research has been widely published in leading scientific journals, covering topics such as soil salinity mitigation, biochar impacts, and artificial intelligence applications in agriculture. I am also passionate about mentoring and have supervised various projects addressing climate change impacts and innovative water solutions.
My dedication to sustainability and innovation has been recognized through multiple honors, including a silver medal in the Changemaker Competition (2019) and awards for mentoring outstanding student projects. I am also a certified trainer and have represented Jordan in several regional and international initiatives on green growth and climate change adaptation. With expertise in leadership, environmental management, and advanced analytical tools, I am committed to driving impactful research and fostering collaborations to address global environmental challenges.
