Bio
Nahla Al-Bayyari is an Associate Professor and Researcher in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. She completed her Ph.D in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2015 from the University of Jordan. Her Ph.D study was a double blind placebo controlled clinical trial about Vitamin D and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. From 1994-1997, Nahla was served as a researcher assistant at JUST and from 1998-2015 as a lecturer at higher education associations, and a chair for the Allied Health Department for two years (2004-2006)/ Jordan College for Science and Technology, Jordan. Dr. Al Bayyari has supervised and examined several Human Nutrition and Dietetics Master students. She also, has published numerous articles in scientific journals and served as an editorial board member and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. She has participated in many conferences, courses and research studies all over the world, including Europe, USA, Canada, and some Arab countries.
Dr. Al-bayyari has got research grants from National and International Associations and she was awarded Erasmus + grant for International Credit Staff Mobility KA107 programme at the University of Santiago De Compostela, Lugo, Spain for the academic year 2019-2020. She is a member of The American Society of Nutrition (ASN), the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) and the Jordanian Academic Association.
Nahla earned her first degree in Public Health Nutrition from the Faculty of Medicine/ Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 1990. She worked as a nutritionist in a number of hospitals in Amman, Jordan. In 1991, she was accepted for postgraduate masters-level study in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine/ Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jordan. During her study at JUST, she focused on Maternal and Child Health. Her Master?s thesis title was ?The Pattern of Intra-Uterine Fetal Growth in Weight for Normal Singleton Pregnancies in Irbid City.
Employment History and Teaching Areas
Before I relocated to work at Al-Balqa Applied university, I was working on a full-time appointment as lecturer and Director of the Allied Health Department in the Jordan College of Science and Technology in Jordan. During my career I was gained a good academic and administrative experience. As a university teacher, I have had the privilege and pleasure to teach many students. I taught several courses in Nutrition and Public Health such as Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Diet Therapy, Nutritional Epidemiology, Nutrition Through Life stages, and Nutritional Assessment for Nutrition students at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan.
Research and Professional Activities
Holding graduate degrees in medical sciences, public health, and human nutrition and dietetics, I conducted extended research in public health, clinical nutrition, nutritional epidemiology and dietetics with special focus on clinical trials, vitamin D deficiency, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes, Hyperhomocysteinemia and its association with obesity, cardiovascular, kidney and liver diseases. Moreover, my research interests have grown to include investigations in the field of Public Health and Nutrition with special focus on cancer and infertility.
