|
Dr. Jaradat received his Ph.D in Bioorganic Chemistry and M.Sc in Crystallography from Freie Universitat Berlin, Germany. He was a visiting research scholar at University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. He has also been on a sabbatical leave at the department of macromolecular crystallography and structural biology of Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB) in Germany as a visiting research scientist. Currently, Dr. Jaradat is an associate professor of Bioorganic Chemistry at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU), Jordan.
His major scientific efforts have been concentrated on accessing bioactive heterocycles, proteins and peptides using synthetic organic chemistry, solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and protein expression in various hosts. Currently, he is working on developing, designing, and preparing new enzyme variants acting as plastic hydrolases as well as peptides that act as GLP-1 mimetics, inhibitors for bacterial multidrug efflux pumps, or antibacterial and anticancer agents.
Additionally, he has very good experience in several characterization and purification techniques including spectroscopy; NMR, IR, MS, single crystal crystallography (including synchrotron beamlines), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and chromatography (HPLC, GC, protein chromatograpghy including affinity, ion-exchange, and, size-exclusion chromatograpghy).
Dr. Jaradat has also been involved in various teaching, student thesis supervision, and training duties at different graduate and undergraduate levels at Al-Balqa Applied University, Freie Universitat Berlin and the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan.
