Dr. Ahmad Shammout is Dean of Aqaba University College and Director of Aqaba Maritime Education and Training Center at Al-Balqa Applied University and. He received full scholarships to earn both his master's degree in Tourism from Yarmouk University in Jordan in 2002, and his doctorate in Hospitality and Tourism Marketing from Victoria University in Australia in 2008. While Dr. Shammout began his career as a banker at Arab Bank right shortly after graduation, he made the turn his attention to the academic field in 1998. Since then, he taught in several local and international universities such as Al-Balqa' Applied University, the University of Jordan, and Victoria University in Australia. From 2013 to 2015, he was appointed as a Dean of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts in Jordan/affiliate of Les Roches University in Switzerland. Dr. Shammout is a highly respected member of a number of professional bodies and technical committees, including but not limited to Vocational education committee of the Royal Committee for Human recourses Development in Jordan, board of trustees of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Centre for Hospitality and Tourism Research (Victoria University), Council for Australian University Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE), Australasian Marketing Journal (AMJ), and Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC). His research interests lie in the area of relationship marketing and customer relations management, service quality, customer emotions, and e-marketing, with a focus on the hospitality and tourism industries. It may be important to mention that Dr. Shammout has received important academic awards such as highly commanded paper in hospitality marketing from Purdue University (USA) in 2007 and from Emerald in 2020. Because he has an interest in human rights, Dr. Shammout also works as a vice-president of Arab Bridge Centre for Human Rights and Development for research and training.
