Dr Abu Mahfouz graduated from The Jordan University of Science and Technology, following that he completed an academic postgraduate training program from The University of Jordan, where he was awarded the Certificate of Higher Specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Afterward he passed the Jordan Medical Council examination and was awarded the Jordanian Board certificate.

Dr Abu Mahfouz then moved to the United Kingdom and joined the British Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) training program. After the successful completion of training, he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG).

Dr Abu Mahfouz has extensive experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in addition to Urogynaecology and Pelvic reconstructive surgery.
Research interests include female lower urinary tract symptoms, general obstetrics and gynaecology
