 OverView
|
I currently work as the Head of the Planning and Project Management Department at Al-Balqa' Applied University. I was a visiting professor at the University of Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) and the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (CSAMES) for the 2023/2024 academic year during my sabbatical. I received a scholarship from Al-Balqa' University to spend this sabbatical at a prestigious university ranked 42nd in the world according to the Shanghai Ranking. I am now an Associate Professor and former Head of the Planning and Project Management Department at Al-Balqa' Applied University in Jordan. I teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in the Planning and Project Management Department and teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Architecture.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, a Master's degree in Regional Planning, a PhD in Geography, and my doctoral dissertation is in Urban Planning and Geographic Information Systems. I previously worked as a district manager for a municipality and owned a company that designs, supervises, and manages construction projects. I received several grants from the European Union Erasmus to spend a research leave at the University of Nantes in France in 2013, Humboldt University in Germany in 2015, and Bursa Technical University in 2025. I also received a grant from the Turkish Scientific Council TUBITAC to spend a research year at Bursa Technical University for the academic year 2022/2023. I attended many conferences and workshops and presented many scientific papers in them. I also published more than 20 scientific papers in prestigious and scientific journals. I received the Distinguished Engineer Award from the Jordanian Engineers Association, a scholarship for scientific excellence to complete my doctoral studies from the University of Jordan, and a scholarship to complete my master's studies from Al-Balqa' Applied University. I was first in my class in the master's and doctoral degrees and fifth in my class in the bachelor's degree. I was also first in the governorate in the scientific branch of the General Secondary Certificate and fifth in the Kingdom. I won a seat on the Central Committee of the Architectural Division of the Jordanian Engineers Association for the period 2018-2024 and also won a seat as a member of the Jordanian Environmental Planning Forum Council for the period 2022-2024. I am currently a member of the Engineers Association, the Society of Architects, the Jordanian Environmental Planning Forum, and the Urban Planning Committees of the Architectural Division. I participate in the arbitration of scientific theses and graduation projects at most Jordanian universities, and I have several volunteer and charitable activities.
